"Arjuna's Despondency Stage"
ta ime'vasthitaa yuddhe praanaamstyaktwaa dhanaani cha // 1.33 //
aachaaryah pitarah putraastathaiva cha pitaamahaah
maatulaah shwashuraah pautraah shyaalaah sambandhinastathaa // 1.34 //
etaanna hantum icchaami ghnato'pi madhusoodana
api trailokya raajyasya hetoh kim nu maheekrite // 1.35 //
aachaaryah pitarah putraastathaiva cha pitaamahaah
maatulaah shwashuraah pautraah shyaalaah sambandhinastathaa // 1.34 //
etaanna hantum icchaami ghnato'pi madhusoodana
api trailokya raajyasya hetoh kim nu maheekrite // 1.35 //
Translation:
All of them are standing in this battle by giving up their lives and wealth. Teachers, fathers, sons and also grandfathers, maternal uncles and fathers-in-law, grandsons, brothers-in-laws and all the other relatives. O, Madhusudana(Krishna), though they are here to kill me for the sake of the kingdom in earth, I do not wish to kill them even in exchange for the three worlds.
Description:
Here, Arjuna's deep affection towards this mortal world is clearly seen. His affection for his family, friends, relatives is exhibited here due to his natural compassion for them. He gradually lost all his mental strength and determined to give-up the war because he thought, even after the victory with whom he'll share his pleasure, luxury etc because nobody will leave so long in this battle. Although, Arjuna wanted to forgive the opponent just for the sake of kingdom in earth but not gonna fight to kill his own community & cousins in an exchange of entire three world.
