Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 1(Part-40)
Arjuna Vishaada Yogah:
"Arjuna's Despondency Stage"

kulakshaye pranashyanti kuladharmaah sanaatanaah
dharme nashte kulam kritsnam adharmo'bhibhavatyuta  // 1.40 //

Translation:
with the destruction of family, the religious traditions perish and thus the rest kinsfolk becomes involved in irreligious activities.


Description:
'Dharma of spirutuality' is nothing but the principle of religious traditions with carrying out duties that helps the member of family to grow in a proper way and attain spiritual values. The elder members or dynasty are responsible for such a purification process inside the family. In the absence of such senior members, gradually the kinsfolk will become involve in irreligious activities and will gradually destroy themselves. So, Arjuna keeping his opinion that, the elders should not be slain and particularly not in a war where the family members are in a thirst of blood of other members.

kulakshaye: destruction of family ; pranashyanti: trounced ; dharme: in religion ; nashte: being destroyed ; adharmo: irreligion ; abhibhavati: arises ; uta: it is told
